Avalon's Portal

Book 1

Nothing exciting ever happens to Arthur, and that’s the way he likes it.

But, when he stumbles into a magical world on his 13th birthday, the new teen has to put on his big boy pants and begin the quest of a lifetime to find his way back home.

With the help of new friends, Arthur faces seemingly impossible obstacles, magical creatures and mythical monsters.

Avalon isn't the same place Arthur remembers. The place he left was magic, but the Avalon he returns to is dark, very dark. Danger lurks around every corner, Guin is missing, and Avalon's magic is fading fast.

With the help of his friends, Arthur has to overcome new obstacles, fight new enemies, battle his way out of treacherous situations, and come face to face with the ancient evil they released during his last visit.

Arthur is scared but he's determined to find Guin and save Avalon.

We've needed this to happen.
A little JK Rowling, a little Phillip Pullman and a lot of suspense and you have Avalon's Portal.

Lynne has created a book that in one chapter you are happily strolling through deep and expansive landscapes to a sentence later having your heart in your throat not wanting to stop reading but at the same time almost being too nervous to read on.

I've read the book myself as an adult and am now reading it to my daughter who is just as engrossed as I was. Its incredible to see the excitement every night before bed. Thats what I think any parent wants at story time, a fully engaged child who is eating up the story.
My only criticism would be that it ends on a cliffhanger and I'm impatient!

A beautiful and enthralling first novel from Ms. Bailey and I cannot wait for the sequel.

Firstly I want to say thank you so much to Lynne W Bailey, the wonderful author of this book for sending me the an early copy of Avalon's Portal for an honest review. I really enjoyed this book and found I could not put it down. From start to finish I was on the edge I my seat. I had such an investment in the plot that I didn't want to leave. Avalon's Portal is full of Adventure and loveable characters. The only thing I can critique this book on is that it ended. It ended and I wanted it to continue, only because I was loving it that much!
